After a week of looking up cool performance mods for slant sixes I present all this information to my dad and he decides he wants a v8.
I don't know how I feel about this. I would love to do an engine swap and have a crazy little v8 pre-muscle era muscle car but I'm also sad about loosing the slant 6. Everyone throws out the slant 6 which is a good engine that doesn't need to die.
I'm conflicted. A slant six would make a cool coffee table though. Or an awesome homemade roadster.

That's what I'm saying! The early darts can only take up to about 360s anyway so I can't even do a hemi.

What year? I've been looking for a 318 for my lemons car (62 fury) since they seem pretty reliable.

Some of my favorite engines reside in the inline range. One of the things that would send me to the hospital with hysterics would be someone making an inline-8 for a modern car.

A slant 6 is a good thing to throw out. Go ahead and swap in the V8. Take plenty of pictures of the six, they'll take up much less space then then the six.

I know it's not as quirky, but I gotta say I'm with your dad on this one.
Personally I'd go with a 383. Kick ass engine without being ridiculously oversized for the car, Darts are relatively small a 440 would be a little bit of overkill, but not unheard of. A 360 would work good too.
